September seaweed foraging, feasting and potions...

From Beth…. When I think of September, I think of the change in seasons, new beginnings and airs of excitement. This particular September the 19th, after months of postponement due to Covid-19, we held our very first seaweed workshop. 

The workshop was held at Bracelet Bay, a stunning spot with limestone cliffs, pebbly sands, numerous rock pools to explore and of course, plenty of seaweed! Here we all took part in a beach clean with Surfers Against Sewage. We shared some practical experience in seaweed identification and sustainable seaweed foraging. We shared some surprising nutritional facts about this humble sea vegetable, and had some fun creating seaweed potions with Câr-Y-Môr. To top the day off, The Shared Plate had prepared the most divine seaweed dish, alongside seaweed tea, for us all to enjoy.

We hope that you all left feeling inspired to learn more about seaweed as a sustainable food source, and will have a go at foraging and cooking your own.
